"Health & Healing in 19th Century Ocean Grove" Lecture by Dell O'Hara

$10.00

In the late 1800s, as new concepts of health and healing became increasingly popular, Ocean Grove provided an abundance of choices for their visitors and residents. Dr Barr’s Hygienic Institute and Dr Stark’s Sanitarium were two of the largest wellness establishments, yet novel cures were to be found in various other places as well: physicians practiced homeopathic medicine, medical electricians and electric pain destroyers were available as were lessons in the “Grand Movement System,” massages were offered at Lilligore’s Pavilion or in one’s home and one of the foremost faith healers in the nation provided housing & prayer in her “Faith Cottage” on Embury Avenue. Join us on Monday September 15th at 7pm as we explore the healing techniques of the 1890s in this seaside town.
